Our two-day Uyuni Salt Flats tour will offer an adventure across one of South America’s most surreal landscapes. We will start and finish our journey in Uyuni, ensuring a comprehensive experience of this unique region.
On the first day, we will visit Colchani village, just near the edges of the expansive salt flats. Here, we will witness local artisans crafting salt-based products, a glimpse into the cultural heritage of the area. We will then continue our tour to the majestic Thunupa Volcano. This is where we will explore Coqueza village and visit mysterious caves with fascinating archaeological remains.
In the afternoon, we will hike uphill to the base of Thunupa. This provides us breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Our day will end with an unforgettable sunset over the vast white expanse of the Bolivian salt flats.
We will have a visit to the Train Cemetery, where rusting locomotives tell the story of a bygone era. We will then venture to Incahuasi Island, a remarkable oasis of cacti amidst the salt flats. This spot will offer us the chance to take amazing photos of the salt flats from a unique perspective.
Afterward, we will continue our tour, marveling at the stark beauty of the region. Then we will return to Uyuni in the evening, concluding our Uyuni tour.

From January to April, the Central Andes experience a weather phenomenon known as the Altiplano winter, which brings the rainy season. The second day of the Uyuni Salt Flats Bolivia Tour begins at 9:30 AM with the drive to the Train Cemetery. We’ll talk about Bolivia’s history and mineral heritage during the XIX century as you encounter the “Train Cemetery.”
This place was once bustling with silver mining activity, now rest silently amidst the vast expanse of the desert. Explore these haunting remnants, each telling a story of Bolivia’s industrial past and the resilience of its people.

Uyuni and the surrounding areas are at a high altitude, ranging from 3,656 meters (11,995 feet). It can get to higher elevations near the Thunupa Volcano. We recommend taking time to acclimatize in La Paz if you suffer altitude sickness.
