At noon, enjoy a traditional lunch in the ruins of Tiwanaku town. Later on, visit the archaeological complex and discover the several theories developed from international archaeologists around the meaning and functionality of Akapana Pyramid, the Kantatallita recent discovered site, the Semi-Underground Temple with 75 different faces, Kalasasaya Temple, the famous Sun Gate and more.
This last visit will make your Tiwanaku Sungate tour worth it. The museums and other attractions are the best complement to the main destination. A visit to the Tiwanaku archaeological with its stone monolith and the most important archaeological site is fullsilling. This day trip to the town of Tiwanaku is all you will need.
In the afternoon, only 5 minutes away we visit the mighty Puma Punku archeological site. Is a nearby quarry complex shrouded in mystery. Here, witness colossal stone blocks, some weighing over 100 tons, defying explanation.
Return back to La Paz or optional activity at 4:30 pm, marking the end of our Tiwanaku Sungate Tour.
In addition to the Sungate, the tour typically includes visits to other significant parts of the Tiwanaku complex, such as the Kalasasaya Temple, the Semi-Subterranean Temple, the Pumapunku complex, and the Tiwanaku Museum, which houses artifacts from the site.
The best time to visit is during the dry season, from May to October, when the weather is generally clear and stable. The wet season (November to April) can bring rain, which might make the site more difficult to explore.
There are basic restroom facilities near the entrance to the archaeological site. There are also a few small restaurants and vendors near the site, but it’s a good idea to bring your own snacks and water.
