Experience the breathtaking beauty of Madidi National Park on our exclusive 3-day adventure. We will depart from Rurrenabaque, cruising along the Beni and Tuichi rivers. Along the way, we will enjoy stunning views of the Amazon rainforest, one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world. The national park is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna.

We will arrive at Madidi Jungle Ecolodge, a cozy staying within one of Bolivia’s largest protected areas. Here, we will explore the Tareche Trail, where you will encounter the lush, vibrant greenery of the Amazon. We will have opportunities to spot some of the park’s unique wildlife, including several species of birds.

On the second day, we will hike the Biwa Trail, an immersive experience in the upper Amazon River basin. We will continue our guided walk along the Mapajo and Almendrillo Trails. Our knowledgeable guide will introduce us to the diverse flora and fauna.

On the final day, we will head upstream along the Tuichi River to the Serere Trail. This route will lead us to Piraña Lagoon, where we can appreciate the tranquility of the Amazon. The end approaches as we return to Rurrenabaque.

Tour Notes

In case you are planning to arrive the same day of your Amazon jungle tour, we suggest you catch the first flight at 08:05. This is in order to go right to the Ecolodge. In case you want to get back to La Paz by plane, the last night of your tour you must spend in Rurrenabaque.

Itinerary

Day 1

On the first day, we’ll depart by motorboat from Rurrenabaque at 8:30 AM. We will enjoy a scenic 3-hour trip up the Beni and Tuichi rivers to Madidi National Park. Arrive at the Madidi Jungle Ecolodge by 12:30 PM and settle into traditional-style cabins.

The hammocks will work for a nap after lunch. After our rest we will take a guided hike along Tareche Trail at 3:00 PM to spot various bird species and other wildlife. Conclude the day with dinner at 7:30 PM and an optional night hike. This voluntary experience allows you to spot some of the jungle’s nocturnal creatures.

Day 2

The second day of our Madidi National Park tour begins with breakfast at 7:30 AM. This follows  a guided hike along the Biwa Trail to see black spider monkeys and enjoy panoramic rainforest views. Return to the ecolodge for lunch and more hammock relaxation.

At 3:00 PM, set out on a guided walk via the Mapajo and Almendrillo Trails. Here, you’ll learn about medicinal plants and Amazon ecosystems. After dinner at 7:30 PM, enjoy some free time.

Day 3

The final day of our Madidi National Park tour starts with breakfast at 7:30 AM. This is before we take a boat trip upstream along the Tuichi River to the Serere Trail. Hike to Piraña Lagoon to see yellow squirrel monkeys and fish for piranhas, followed by a visit to a salt lick. Return to the lodge for lunch at 12:30 PM and some free time.

At 1:30 PM, head back to Rurrenabaque, with an optional stop to see macaws and parrots. Arrive in Rurrenabaque by 3:30 PM for your transfer to a hotel, bus station, or airport. This marks the end of our Madidi National Park tour.
