Take the chance to meet the elusive Bolivian river dolphin (Inia boliviensis). Unlike its marine relatives, this unique dolphin swims in the rivers of the Amazon and can grow up to 9.2 feet long, making it the largest freshwater dolphin in the world.
It also has more teeth, a smaller skull, and a longer body compared to the Amazonian river dolphin. Plus, these freshwater giants can weigh as much as 400 pounds—roughly the weight of two adult male dolphins from the ocean!
On the first day, after breakfast (not included), we will pick you up from your hotel in Rurrenabaque. There is the option to pick you from the airport (if you arrive on the same day of the tour before 10:30 am).
We will venture into the nature of Pampas del Yacuma, traveling by land from Rurrenabaque.
We will have lunch in the beautiful town of Santa Rosa del Yacuma. After our meal we will then motorboat upstream on the Yacuma River. During this trip, we will observe incredible species. Spot birds, caimans, turtles, monkeys, capybaras, and maybe even pink dolphins!
At the end of the day, we will enjoy a beautiful sunset in Pampas del Yacuma. For those who want something extra, they can join a nocturnal activity. You will have the chance to observe the shine in the eyes of the caimans (for this activity, each person must have a flashlight).
On the second day, we will take a walk through Pampas del Yacuma. We will start searching for anacondas and other animals. For this activity, we will provide rubber boots (only up to size 45EUR in Bolivia). If we are in the rainy season, we will motorboat to try to find this type of snake in the trees and spot more animals.
After lunch, we will have the unique opportunity to swim with pink dolphins in nearby backwaters. This territorial animal will keep us safe from caimans with a close encounter with these beautiful creatures.
On the third and final day, after breakfast, we will focus on sports fishing for piranhas. We will have lunch and then head back to Rurrenabaque, where we will arrive around 5 pm.

The tour starts with a flight from La Paz to Rurrenabaque. From there, we will take a scenic drive to the Pampas, where our adventure begins.
The Pampas del Yacuma is a remote area with limited cell phone reception and no internet access. It’s a great opportunity to disconnect and enjoy nature.
The best time to visit is during the dry season from May to October when wildlife is more easily observed and the weather is more predictable.
